Sarah's story at BlossomPlayTherapyServices

My inspiring journey into play therapy

The journey to creating BlossomPlayTherapyServices began when I first stumbled across Play Therapy a decade ago and discovered its' incredible potential for children grappling with emotional struggles. My initial degrees in social sciences and years working in schools and for charities supporting children and adults solidified this belief. In 2019, I qualified as a Play Therapist with an MSc from the University of Wales Newport.

My Christian faith underpins my work as a Play Therapist and enables me to offer my work with kindness, integrity and understanding.

Making a difference through dedicated practice

Following my qualification, I dedicated myself to working as a Play Therapist for a domestic abuse charity, supporting children and families affected by domestic abuse and family breakdown. I also extended my work to looked-after children and their families, helping them navigate and process their trauma. Through play therapy, I witnessed children rebuilding trust, developing a sense of safety, and processing deep-seated feelings that are often challenging to articulate in everyday contexts. This experience reinforced my conviction in the transformative power of play.

My passion for children's well-being

What truly drives me is witnessing the remarkable transformation that an empathetic and accepting approach can bring to children. It is incredibly rewarding to see them develop resilience against challenges and cultivate stronger confidence in who they are. Play therapy empowers children, giving them a sense of control over their circumstances through their play and creative activities within the sessions. My hope is that by providing these vital sessions, we can continue this positive trend, offering both children and their parents much-needed support and relief.

"The commitment and kindness from BlossomPlayTherapyServices created a safe space for my child to truly blossom."
